The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) determine mandatory courses that all secondary schools in the state must complete. MacKillop offers students the opportunity to study a range of electives in Years 9 to 10.
YEARS 7 & 8:
Students study the following compulsory subjects:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- HSIE - Year 7 World History - Year 8 World Geography
- Personal Development, Health, Physical Education
- Technology
- French (Year 7)
- Music/Visual Arts - 1 year of each in Years 7 and 8
- Technical Skills, Textiles Technology, Food Technology, Drama, French, Enterprise (Year 8 semester electives)
YEARS 9 & 10:
Students study the following compulsory subjects:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Civics and Citizenship - Australian History and Australian Geography
- Personal Development, Health, Physical Education
At the end of Year 8, students are required to choose two elective subjects which they then study for two years.
